Volkswagen has been a proud partner of the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola since 2006. First officially played in 1905, The PGA Championship is Australia’s oldest professional golfing event with an illustrious list of past champions including Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Ian Baker-Finch, Geoff Ogilvy and Robert Allenby. The 2011 tournament took place from 24-27 November at the Hyatt Regency, Coolum on the Sunshine Coast with Australian Greg Chalmers emerging triumphant to take home the Kirkwood Cup after a tense three way playoff with Allenby and Marcus Fraser.

As the official vehicle partner of the tournament, Volkswagen provides a fleet of vehicles to transport players and officials. Volkswagen also offers a special prize for a hole in one on the par three 14th hole, which in 2011 was a new Golf Cabriolet. In spite of several players coming close no one managed a hole in one on this occasion.

In 2011 Volkswagen was also proud to support Volkswagen Free Ticket Saturday, allowing all fans to see the world class golf on offer for free. The Volkswagen Fan Zone was also launched in 2011, providing fans with the opportunity to test their golf skills through various activities including a special Putt Putt course featuring a tricky hole in one challenge into the boot of a new Volkswagen Tiguan.
